Nowadays, displays are getting bigger, higher resolution and more brilliant. Nevertheless, low-cost passive LCDs still play an important role in the industrial market segment when the use of a high-performance display is not required for economic reasons. The advantages are not only the manageable costs, but also an energy-saving readability, as they are readable without backlight or have an extremely good performance in sunlight.
Different applications in the areas of metering, industrial control, access systems, transportation and instrumentation, where passive LCDs are often used, also require different customer-specific solutions. Through cooperation agreements with its manufacturers RCL, DLC, Jenson and Evervision, TRS-Star / Stutensee offers a design-in service to meet demanding customer requirements. Often these are special viewing angles on the display, special backlight solutions in terms of thickness or special color up to extreme climatic conditions such as temperature or humidity, or even shaping such as round or polygonal.
All LCD technologies are available from the simple TN cell to the more contrasting STN, FSTN and Vertical Alignement technologies as well as HTN or ASTN.
