EdgeBrain® inline AI module from de Jonge GmbH

The EdgeBrain® inline AI module from de Jonge GmbH allows existing industrial systems to be quickly expanded with AI functionality without the need for extensive modifications. The updatable plug-and-play solution is primarily aimed at manufacturing companies, machine builders and system integrators. The EdgeBrain® module is integrated directly into the data path between sensors, controllers and machines. There, it analyses and evaluates data in real time using AI. Data is not first sent to a cloud or a separate industrial PC, but is processed immediately and locally in the module as it flows through the system in the ongoing data stream. This allows immediate, deterministic decisions to be made without additional delays. The module reads the current signal data, evaluates it using a trained AI model and returns the result to the control system in real time. The existing plant structure remains unchanged. This distinguishes the module from other AI approaches such as cloud AI, where data is first transmitted, analysed externally and returned with a delay, or industrial PCs, which require a high level of integration.
The EdgeBrain® module detects quality deviations during production as well as machine errors and anomalies. Other features include the fusion of sensors and consolidation of signals, as well as real-time optimisation of process parameters. The key advantage is that existing machines can be retrofitted with AI functionality without modification or downtime. This gives companies immediate decisions in real time, stable latencies for real-time systems, local data processing with high data sovereignty, and lower integration costs than with traditional AI architectures.
The EdgeBrain® module addresses typical challenges in machine parks, such as a lack of transparency in the process, delayed error detection and complex integration projects. The offline-capable inline module makes it possible to modernise existing lines without downtime and to feed data-based decisions directly back into the control system. It combines several concrete benefits for the user. Anomalies and quality deviations are detected directly in the data stream before rejects occur. Deterministic real-time inference ensures reproducible decisions without additional latency. Plug-and-play integration without new PLC structures or GPU servers ensures minimal integration effort. Data sovereignty remains within the company, as the data is optionally processed locally with highly secure connectivity without cloud dependency. The modernisation of machines and lines takes place without interrupting production during ongoing operations. This makes EdgeBrain particularly suitable for manufacturing companies with high quality requirements, retrofit projects or heterogeneous existing plants.
The target groups for EdgeBrain® are production companies with existing machine parks (brownfield) as well as machine and plant manufacturers who want to offer retrofit-capable AI functionality. Other potential customers include OT and automation managers who want to use real-time analytics without the cloud and system integrators who need standardised, repeatable AI solutions. Typical areas of application include industrial series production, process industries such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals and food, as well as high-throughput environments where stable latencies and robust systems are crucial.
The EdgeBrain® module is designed for harsh industrial environments. It is vibration and shock resistant, EMC/EMI robust and resistant to oils, coolants and cleaning agents. The compact, all-aluminium housing with passive cooling allows it to be used in a working temperature range from -40 °C to +85 °C. Power consumption is max. 5 watts. The low-power FPGA SoC architecture enables energy-efficient continuous operation with high power density. Local data processing significantly reduces bandwidth requirements, computing load and system complexity, which is a decisive advantage for scalable Industry 4.0 applications. With dimensions of 90 mm × 75 mm × 25.5 mm and a weight of 300 g, the module can be integrated into existing systems in a space-saving manner without additional industrial PCs or control cabinets. Unlike cloud-centric solutions, EdgeBrain brings deterministic intelligence directly into the data path of the machines and operates entirely locally. A highly secure, bidirectional connection can be activated as an option.

Project example Pforzheim – Renovation of the lighting system at Waisenhausplatz Pforzheim
The lighting at Waisenhausplatz in the centre of Pforzheim - Germany dated back to the 1990s and no longer met today's technical and energy requirements. The system consisted of individually designed masts, which were originally equipped with luminaires developed specifically for this location. These luminaires had a significant impact on the appearance of the square and were therefore an essential design element of the overall urban composition.
In the course of the renovation, the lighting system was comprehensively modernised, with particular emphasis on preserving the original design character. The aim was to develop luminaires that were visually identical to the original ones, preserving the historical design intent, but equipped with contemporary, energy-efficient LED technology.
The new lighting was designed to ensure standard-compliant, glare-free and uniform illumination of the square. Precisely coordinated LED optics are used, offering high light quality and optimal colour rendering. At the same time, energy consumption has been significantly reduced and the system's ease of maintenance improved.
The combination of technical innovation and a design in keeping with the historic building has resulted in a sustainable lighting concept that meets both functional and aesthetic requirements. Waisenhausplatz thus retains its characteristic atmosphere, while the lighting has been brought up to the latest technical standards.

New Magic Power Enhanced ultra-slim MPE-F Power Supply Family

With the two new members of the ultra-slim AC-DC power supply family MPE-F100 and MPE-F065 from Magic Power, TRS-STAR offers two ultra-compact 2 x 4 inch power packs with a height of only 20mm.
The Class I/Class II power supplies have a nominal output power of 60W or 100W (convection-cooled) and can cover short-term peak outputs of 120W or 150W.
This „peak power capability“ allows it to design the overall system closer to its defined nominal load and not necessary to possible peak load conditions.
This means greater design flexibility in the application and results in significant advantages in terms of weight, space and costs.
The power supply units have an operating temperature range of -20° - 80°C (with derating) and a wide-range input of 90 - 264VAC with single output voltages of 12V, 24V or 48V.
For safe operation conditions short-circuit and overvoltage protection features are onboard.
With an efficiency of 90% and a power consumption below 0.1W during no-load operation the efficiency requirements of the market to modern and future-oriented power supplies are reliably met.
The low height of maximum one inch and the compact footprint of 2 x 4 inches making these power supplies perfectly tailored for convection-cooled applications in space-critical environments with high temparature requirements in 24/7 operating condition, such as embedded systems, display solutions and kiosk systems in industry, medical and household.
The power supply units are certified in accordance with EN62368-1 and fulfil the standards of IEC 62368-1 and IEC 60335-1 standards.

The axhena 1901 street light ‘Made in Germany’ is characterised by its beautiful, simple design. It combines functional elegance with the latest technology. Axhena 1901 has been developed to high standards for optimal illumination. With a design in the typical Bauhaus style, the luminaire impresses with clean lines and a minimalist design that radiates a timeless aesthetic and blends harmoniously into urban environments. The luminaire body is made of robust die-cast aluminium, which ensures stability and durability. The ESG luminaire glass with impact resistance IK08 reliably protects the luminaire from external influences and ensures safe use. It is equipped with Tridonic components as well as PMMA lenses in Zhaga format in multilayer technology for efficient and uniform illumination.
This high-quality technology ensures high energy efficiency. This achieves optimal illumination of the road surface without causing glare. The premium version has an integrated control system that allows the lighting to be adjusted as needed to optimise energy consumption. The power reduction is done via the ChronoStep function. The driver dims the light as the night progresses without the need for additional controls. This intelligent control supports modern smart city concepts. It contributes to sustainable energy management and leads to a long service life.
The system performance of the axhena 1901 is 7 to 32 watts with a luminous flux of 846 to 5104 lm. The luminaire is available in the light colours Amber/2200/2700/3000/4000K and the illumination Y/V/M/S/B. In addition to the basic colour RAL 9005 (black), other housing colours are available on request. The dimensions are T 460 x W 320 x H 70 (mm) with a total weight of 6.2 kg. It is designed for protection class IP65 and protection class I and is voltage-proof up to 10 kV. The plait size is 60/76 mm.

GLF7210x IQ-Smart load switch IC-Family for maximum system efficiency

With the GLF7210x product family from GLF Integrated Power, TRS-STAR offers a highly integrated load switch family with maximum power efficiency and compactness ideally suited for application in the embedded, IoT, medical, sensor and infotainment sector.
The switches have an input voltage of 1.5 to 5.5V and due to a RDS(on) of typical 37mOhm they are operating with very low losses during on-state. Leakage currents of 20nA are achieved in blocking mode (EN). For safe operating condidtions, reverse current blocking protection (RCB) with low threshold voltage and slew rate control are integrated to ensure stable output voltages.
For reliable power sequencing of subsystems there are optional types with an integrated output discharge switch available.
The switches are housed in space-saving 0.77 x 0.77mm WLCSP chip-scale packages with a pitch of 0.4mm.
AIB-NVAO AI Box PC from Avalue for Atonomous Machine Intelligence

The new embedded AI industrial computer AIB-NVAO was specially developed by Avalue for autonomous machine intelligence. It integrates state-of-the-art AI computing functions, extensive expansion interfaces and an industrial-grade service life. It is suitable for applications in the automotive, intelligent logistics, manufacturing and agriculture sectors.
With the NVIDIA AGX Orin module, the AIB-NVAO delivers a computing power of 275 TOPS (INT8), which is an 8-fold improvement over its predecessor. This high computing power supports high-speed interfaces for multiple sensors and enables the execution of complex AI computing tasks. The user can choose between a 32GB 200 TOPS or a 64GB 275 TOPS version. To fulfil flexible expansion requirements, the AIB-NVAO offers 1 x HDMI 2.0, 4 x Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, 2 x USB3.0, 6 x RS232/RS485/Debug interfaces, 1 x Mini PCIe slot for WIFI/4G, 1 x M.2 M key 2280 (2280, PCIe x4) and 1 x Nano SIM slot. The AIB-NVAO is designed for use in extreme conditions and has a robust industrial design, allowing it to operate in an operating temperature range of -25 °C to +70 °C. The operating voltage range is 9 - 36 volts DC. The mechanical dimensions are (276 x 214 x 71) mm. The Box PC supports Ubuntu Jetpack (version 5.0 and higher) and has CE and FCC Class B certifications, which ensures its stability, reliability and durability for industrial applications.

Transparent OLED kiosk solution (30" and 55'') from Faytech

The OLED kiosk solution from Faytech with the ultra-flat and semi-transparent (30" and 55") touchscreen is characterised by a thin, clear and sharp display. This makes it possible to transform any glass surface into an interactive touch display. It is completely transparent when the display is switched off. It displays information in colour at a resolution of 4K or Full HD when it is switched on. A capacitive 10-finger multi-touch technology is integrated.
It is suitable for applications in self-ordering kiosk technology such as quick service and fast-casual restaurants. Other applications include any transparent or reflective surfaces such as fridges, where it is possible to switch between transparent front and display. Information can be added to the reflected image in a mirror. The transparent part of a machine can also be used as an HMI (Human Machine Interface) with the touchscreen from Faytech.
New Wayon TO-LL Trench Mosfets

Wayon Electronics Ltd. and its distribution partner TRS-STAR are introducing their new high current Trench Mosfet family in the TO-LL package. Compared with reference designs using standard TO-263/D2PAK solutions this package is offering a 30% footprint reduction and a height reduction by 50% (package dimensions 9.9 x 11.7 x 2.3mm). This makes a solution with a Wayon TO-LL package perfectly suited for designs requesting high current capability together with a very compact form factor.
The sophisticated package concept is offering a creepage distance of 2.7mm for additional design safety and a separate signal-source pin to ensure reliable switching at high frequencies.
The Wayon TO-LL product family is starting with a low voltage range from 20V/0.85mΩtyp reaching with steps from medium voltage up to 200V/8mΩtyp including some special types with super current capability of up to 300A with a RDS(on) well below 1mΩ
