trion FPGA technologie

The new flexible FPGA technology from Efinix is available from TRS-STAR GmbH.
The Trion® FPGA family is characterized by high utilization on a small silicon area and offers a four-fold power performance area compared to traditional FPGA technology.

This is achieved through a more efficient Quantum architecture on the chip. The cells can be used for both logic and routing. The choice of housing is flexible. The heating has been reduced so that the efficiency increases. This results in a lower energy consumption (uW) of currently 40nm.

According to the manufacturer Efinix, 16nm are planned for the next FPGA family, Trion Titanium. The use of hardwired MIPI-CSI (4x1.5Gbps) and DDR memory controller (1066Mbps) additionally increases the speed of the system and also reduces energy consumption.
The integrated development environment "Efinity" is easy to use, which has a positive effect on the development costs. It offers a complete FPGA development suite from RTL to bitstream and reduces the compilation time compared to conventional FPGAs thanks to the flexible routing architecture. The small, energy-saving FPGAs are designed for industrial use in the fields of IoT, automation, robotics as well as video, audio and sensor technology. They offer logic elements from 4k to 200k and can be used in traditional FPGA applications as well as in applications in the consumer goods, industrial and communications markets.
